Lead Times and Production Windows: Planning Your Tactical Uniform Order

Late deliveries often result from poor timeline planning, not factory failures. This article outlines realistic production and shipping windows for military uniform orders by volume tier.

One of the most common causes of procurement failure is unrealistic timeline expectations. Factory capacity, material lead times, and shipping logistics all compound. Here are realistic windows by order size.

Order Volume Tiers

  • 500–2,000 units: 6–8 weeks production + 2–3 weeks sea freight
  • 2,000–10,000 units: 10–14 weeks production + 3–4 weeks sea freight
  • 10,000+ units: 16–20 weeks production + 4–5 weeks sea freight

Buffer Recommendations

Always add a 2-week buffer for customs clearance and in-country logistics. For air-sensitive procurement (uniforms needed for a specific operational date), factor in air freight costs as a contingency.

Material Lead Times

Ripstop fabric, ballistic nylon, and specialty zippers often have 4–6 week independent lead times. Confirm material availability before finalising your production schedule.
